Risk analysis of the working environment
Risk analysis is a systematic process in which risk factors concerning employees are evaluated and a risk level is determined. In risk analysis, quality is more important than quantity.
This has been proven in several court cases and investigations of work-related accidents and occupational diseases.
A risk analysis of the working environment is mandatory to all enterprises with at least one employee with a contract of employment. From the point of view of occupational health and safety, risk analysis is the most important document, because it determines:
- The necessity of medical examination
- The items of internal arrangements
- The necessity of safety marking and
- Personal protective equipment as well as
- A plan of action for improving the working environment.
Risk analysis is not just a paper in a drawer.
Risk analysis must constantly be updated if changes occur in the working environment: new appliances installed, rearranged workspaces, new jobs, extensions to the building, new office spaces etc.
It is recommended to update the risk analysis at least once a year.
